The St. Michaels Middle High School Drama Department proudly presents Anything Goes!  The age-old tale of Boy-Meets-Girl and the complications which ensue intrigue every audience, and no musical puts it on stage better than this show.  Produced and directed by Amy Effler, with assistant director Chris Flaherty, Anything Goes is an amusing story wrapped around one of Cole Porter's magical scores (It's De-Lovely, Friendship, I Get a Kick out of You, All Through the Night, Anything Goes, You're the Top).  Romances, mistaken identities, plenty of plot twists and intrigue to go around - all sorts of adventures await the passengers of the S.S. American!

Billy Crocker (Stewart Mitchell), a young love-sick Wall Street broker, stows away on the S.S. American in hopes of winning the heart of his beloved, debutante Hope Harcourt (Zoe Thomas).  His boss, Yale graduate Elisha J. Whitney (Jack Gill), is also on board, with plans to relax before making an important business deal in England.  Hope is sailing to England with her mother, Mrs. Wadsworth T. Harcourt (Julia Jester), to be married to Sir Evelyn Oakleigh (Elliott Fisher), a stuffy, hapless British nobleman.  Also onboard are Moonface Martin (Jacob Wheatley), a second-rate gangster on the lam labeled "Public Enemy 13," and his friend Bonnie (Mackenzie Campbell), who have disguised themselves as a minister and a missionary. They also mistakenly left behind their leader, "Snake Eyes" Johnson, otherwise known as "Public Enemy 1".  On board, Crocker runs into evangelist-turned-nightclub singer Reno Sweeney (Hannah Gill), who is traveling with her backup singers, the Angels (Helen Fagen, Olesia Vinje, Kelsey Abbot, Emma Myers, and Grace Coughlan).  Reno, an old friend of Billy's, resolves to help him win over Hope.  Billy simultaneously learns the true identities of Moonface and Bonnie, and in exchange for his silence, they join the plot to break up Hope and Evelyn.  However, as Billy doesn't have a ticket or passport, Bonnie and Moonface let him have Snake Eyes Johnson's without telling him to whom it belongs.  But the ship's crew figure out that Public Enemy 1 is on board!  Hilarity and hijinks ensue as Billy disguises himself to keep from being discovered, and passengers and stowaways alike find romance, some where they least expect it.  It’s a wonder that all the romances are sorted out and disaster is averted aboard the magical ship where ANYTHING GOES!

Performances will be in the St. Michaels Middle High School Theater, 200 Seymour Ave. in St. Michaels.  The show opens on Friday, February 27 at 7 PM, followed by an evening performance on Saturday, February 28 at 7 PM, and matinee and evening performances on Sunday, March 1 at 2 PM and 7 PM.  Tickets, $10 for adults and $5 for students, can be purchased at the door, and are also available in advance at the St. Michaels Middle High School office and Reeser's Pharmacy in St. Michaels, and Crackerjacks and Rise Up Coffee in Easton.
